India to Host 2029 WPFG in Gujarat

India to Host 2029 World Police & Fire Games in Gujarat
In a major sporting milestone, India has secured the hosting rights for the 2029 World Police & Fire Games (WPFG), marking the first time a South Asian country will host the prestigious international event since its inception in 1985.
The multi-sport event will be held across three prominent venues in Gujarat — Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Ekta Nagar (Kevadia) — and is expected to witness the participation of over 10,000 athletes representing the police, fire, customs, and correctional services from more than 70 countries.
Announcing the development, officials highlighted that hosting the WPFG will not only boost India’s global sporting profile but also promote international camaraderie among uniformed services. The games are often referred to as the “Olympics” for police and firefighting personnel, showcasing athletic excellence, skill, and physical resilience.
Gujarat, with its growing sports infrastructure and strategic planning, was chosen for its ability to accommodate the large-scale event and provide a world-class platform for participants.
This will be the first time the WPFG, a biennial event celebrating the fitness and dedication of frontline responders, comes to South Asia — a move hailed as a historic achievement for India’s public safety and sports community.
