PM Modi Hails Odisha Canoeist Rashmita Sahu for Gold Medal Feat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Odisha canoeist Rashmita Sahu for her stellar performance at the inaugural Khelo India Water Sports Festival held at Dal Lake in Srinagar.

During the 125th edition of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the Prime Minister highlighted Sahu’s achievement, noting that she clinched two gold medals — one in the 200-metre singles and another in the 500-metre doubles event.

The Festival saw participation from over 800 athletes representing different parts of the country, making Sahu’s feat a proud moment for Odisha and India’s growing water sports fraternity.

Modi’s appreciation is expected to inspire young athletes in the state to take up emerging sports disciplines and bring more laurels to the nation.
