Piyush Goyal to visit Brussels on Oct 27–28 to boost India-EU trade pact talks

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will travel to Brussels on October 27 for a two-day visit to hold high-level talks with his European Union counterpart, aimed at giving political impetus to the long-pending India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations.

According to the Commerce Ministry, Goyal will meet Maros Sefcovic, Executive Vice-President and European Commissioner for Trade of the EU, to review progress and identify key areas of convergence in the proposed pact.

“The visit comes at a crucial stage in the ongoing FTA negotiations, as both sides intensify efforts to conclude a comprehensive, balanced, and mutually beneficial trade agreement at the earliest,” the ministry said in a statement.

The India-EU FTA, which covers trade in goods, services, and investment, has been under negotiation for several years, with both sides aiming to enhance economic cooperation and market access amid a rapidly changing global trade landscape.
