Phi Commerce unveils AI fraud detection system

Phi Commerce Launches Phi-ter, India’s First AI-Powered Omnichannel Fraud Management System

Digital payments fintech Phi Commerce has unveiled Phi-ter, an AI-driven, omnichannel fraud management and prevention system designed to detect and stop suspicious transactions in real time—even before payments are completed. The platform was launched at the Global Fintech Fest 2025 in Mumbai.

Billed as India’s first enterprise-grade, real-time fraud detection system, Phi-ter operates seamlessly across both issuing and acquiring sides of the payment ecosystem. It provides unified protection for banks, payment processors, and aggregators across online, offline, and doorstep transactions—a significant step forward in securing the country’s rapidly expanding digital payments landscape.

As India’s digital economy continues to accelerate, cyberfraud has become a mounting concern. The Ministry of Electronics and IT reported over 3.6 million fraud incidents in 2024, with financial losses surpassing Rs 22,800 crore. Traditional, rule-based fraud detection methods have struggled to keep up with the increasing sophistication and volume of real-time payments such as UPI, cards, and tokenised networks.

Phi-ter addresses this gap with its AI-ML-powered predictive intelligence, capable of detecting anomalies within milliseconds and flagging potential threats without disrupting legitimate transactions.

Phi-ter doesn’t just detect; it learns,” said Rajesh Londhe, Co-founder and Business Head – Payments, Phi Commerce. “It predicts potentially fraudulent activity even before the payment completes and continuously feeds that intelligence back into its AI engine, becoming smarter and more adaptive over time.”

The company has launched Phi-ter for both domestic and international markets, positioning it as a next-generation fraud management solution built to safeguard the integrity of digital financial ecosystems worldwide.
