Odisha to Launch Super App for Commuters and Tourists under “Odisha Yatri”

Bhubaneswar – In a significant step towards transforming urban mobility and tourism convenience in the state, the Odisha government is set to develop a Super App for its flagship ride-booking initiative, Odisha Yatri. The app, designed to serve both the general public and tourists, will offer a seamless and inclusive digital experience for transportation services across the state.

The new Super App will be integrated with the existing local bus app and the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation’s (OTDC) tourist ticketing platform. This all-in-one digital platform will allow everyday commuters to access and book local bus rides, while tourists can easily plan and book travel services across popular destinations in Odisha.

During a high-level review meeting chaired by Usha Padhi, Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department, the progress of the app’s development and expansion plans were assessed. Officials confirmed that the Odisha Yatri ride-booking service, currently operational in select areas, will soon be available across all cities and towns in the state.

A key highlight of the Odisha Yatri platform is its zero-commission model, aimed at supporting auto and cab drivers. By leveraging the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), drivers can now earn through digital payments without intermediaries cutting into their earnings—an empowering step towards equitable growth in the gig economy.

To ensure inclusivity and bridge the digital divide, the state government will also establish physical Odisha Yatri ticket booking kiosks at high-footfall locations. These kiosks will assist users who may not have access to smartphones or digital payment tools, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the state’s mobility transformation.

The government is planning extensive awareness campaigns and engagement drives to build trust among users and promote the unique features of the platform. With its integrated approach, user-centric design, and commitment to sustainable urban transport, the Odisha Yatri Super App is poised to set new benchmarks for digital mobility in India.

This move reflects the state’s vision of providing efficient, accessible, and inclusive transport solutions, making travel across Odisha easier and more convenient for both locals and tourists alike.
