Odisha Yatri App Crosses 2 Lakh Trips; Drivers Earn Over Rs 2 Crore

Bhubaneswar, May 22 : The Odisha Yatri app, a government-run cab service launched by the State Transport Department just five months ago, has successfully crossed the milestone of 2 lakh trips, with over 10,000 drivers collectively earning more than Rs 2 crore through the platform.

According to an official release from the Transport Department, the app’s unique feature of charging no commission from drivers has significantly contributed to its rapid growth and widespread acceptance among drivers and passengers alike.

“The Odisha Yatri app is committed to neutrality, cleanliness, and safety,” said Usha Padhi, Principal Secretary of the Commerce and Transport, Housing and Urban Development Department. She added that the app’s success reflects the growing trust of Odisha’s residents in a mobility solution designed with their needs at its core.

Launched in January 2025, the Odisha Yatri app allows drivers to operate without any commission deductions, which has encouraged a surge in registrations and driver participation. To date, more than 1.61 lakh rides have been completed in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack alone.

Bhubaneswar remains the hub of activity, with over 1.24 lakh registered users and the highest number of bookings, while Cuttack has registered more than 37,000 users. In total, the app has been searched by more than 10.5 lakh people in these cities.

With this growing momentum, the State Transport Department now plans to expand the Odisha Yatri platform to other districts across the state and aims to establish a strong presence at the national level, offering an inclusive and driver-friendly alternative in the ride-hailing market.

The Odisha Yatri app’s success marks a significant step toward enhancing public transport options while supporting drivers’ livelihoods in the state.
