Odisha to Get Centre of Excellence in Skill Development: Union Minister

Odisha is set to receive a Centre of Excellence in skill development, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) Jayant Chaudhary announced on Thursday.
Chaudhary made the announcement during a meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in Bhubaneswar. He stated that the Central government has allocated provisions in this year’s Union Budget to establish five Centres of Excellence across the country, with Odisha being one of the beneficiaries.
“This initiative aims to enhance skill development infrastructure, provide advanced training, and equip youth with industry-relevant skills,” the minister said.
The Centre of Excellence is expected to play a key role in bridging the skill gap, fostering employment opportunities, and strengthening the workforce in Odisha. The specific location and operational details of the center will be finalized in coordination with the state government.
The move aligns with the Centre’s push for skill development as a means to boost employability and economic growth, particularly in states like Odisha, where workforce training can significantly impact job creation and industrial expansion.
