Odisha to Establish Elephant Care Centre in Chandragiri Reserve Forest

The Chandragiri reserve forest in Odisha’s Ganjam district is set to house an elephant care centre, announced local MLA Pradyumna Nayak on Friday.

Spread across approximately 21 hectares near Beruabadi, the proposed facility aims to enhance the conservation and care of elephants in the region. The land has been allocated by the forest department, and the proposal by the Ghumusar North Forest Division is currently under active review.

“The proposal is likely to be approved soon, marking a significant step towards wildlife conservation,” said Nayak, the MLA from Bhanjanagar.

The centre is expected to serve as a dedicated sanctuary for elephants, contributing to their well-being and fostering ecological balance in the area.
