Odisha Targets No Migration by 2029

Odisha Aims to End Forced Migration by 2029: Minister
The Odisha government is working to ensure that no resident is compelled to migrate out of the state for employment after 2029, Law Minister Pritithiviraj Harichandan said on Friday.
Speaking during a debate in the state assembly, the minister emphasized that Odisha is focused on achieving self-reliance in employment and development, creating ample opportunities for people within the state.
“We have been working in a strategic manner to end forced migration of workers by 2029 as promised,” he said, underlining the government’s commitment to sustainable local employment and reducing dependence on outside opportunities.
The initiative aligns with Odisha’s broader goal of boosting local industries, skill development, and infrastructure to provide livelihoods across urban and rural areas, thereby minimizing the need for residents to seek work elsewhere.
