Odisha signs pact to create film archive

Odisha Govt Signs Agreement to Establish State Film Archive
The Odisha government has taken a significant step toward preserving its cinematic legacy by signing an agreement to set up a state film archive. The pact was formalised on Wednesday with the Film Heritage Foundation during the closing ceremony of the 10th Film Preservation and Restoration Workshop in Bhubaneswar.
Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo emphasised the cultural importance of the initiative, noting that films reflect the “real image of our socio-cultural life.” He added that the archive would help revive and safeguard cinematic treasures that are slowly fading from public memory.
The new archive is expected to house and restore rare films, archival materials, and historic visuals, contributing to the protection and promotion of Odisha’s rich film heritage.
