Odisha Seeks U.S. Investment for Semiconductor Plant

The Odisha government has actively sought U.S. investment for the establishment of a semiconductor plant in the state. This appeal was made by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during a meeting with U.S. Consul General in Hyderabad, Jennifer Larson, who recently visited Odisha.

In the official statement released on Wednesday, Majhi highlighted Odisha’s strategic advantages, including a skilled workforce, ample land, and reliable water and energy resources. He emphasized these factors as key to attracting American investment in the semiconductor industry and other sectors.

Majhi also requested Larson’s support in encouraging American industries to participate in the upcoming ‘Utkarsh Utkal Conclave’ (formerly known as Make in Odisha), which is anticipated to occur within the next six to seven months. The conclave aims to showcase investment opportunities and drive economic development in Odisha.

The Chief Minister’s appeal reflects the state’s proactive approach to boosting industrial growth and fostering international partnerships, particularly in high-tech sectors like semiconductor manufacturing.
