Odisha Museum Unveils Nine New Galleries
Nine New Galleries Inaugurated at Odisha State Museum
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated nine new galleries at the Odisha State Museum, showcasing the rich history, culture, and natural heritage of the state.
These newly added galleries highlight various aspects of Odisha, including its history, geography, mineral wealth, art, and cultural diversity. The galleries include the Prehistoric Gallery, Royal and Ivory Gallery, Zoology Gallery, Mining and Geology Gallery, Handicraft Gallery, Face Gallery, Tribal Gallery, Handloom Gallery, and Identity Gallery.
Alongside the new galleries, the Chief Minister also visited the newly-built Ramayana Exhibition Hall in Tal Chitra and the underground artifact exhibition, both of which provide a deeper insight into Odisha’s artistic and cultural legacy.
The Mineral and Geological Gallery explores the mineral resources of Odisha, while the Zoology Gallery beautifully presents the state’s diverse forest resources, lakes, and wildlife. Visitors can also scan QR codes in the Zoology Gallery for additional information.
The Handloom Gallery showcases Odisha’s vibrant handloom and textile industries, reflecting its intricate designs and craftsmanship. The Kandhai Gallery displays traditional wood and fabric craft forms, including Sakhi Kandhai, Suta Kandhai, and Sajari Kandhai. The Tribal Gallery offers an immersive experience of Odisha’s tribal communities, highlighting their unique lifestyle, festivals, and heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Majhi stated, “The Odisha State Museum stands as a repository of our culture, heritage, tradition, and history. It is a treasure trove that reflects the legacy and geographical wealth of our state.”
With these additions, the museum aims to enrich the experience of visitors and promote Odisha’s vibrant history and culture.
