Odisha Governor Visits Remote Bonda Tribal Hamlet, Interacts With Villagers

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Wednesday visited a remote Bonda tribal hamlet in Malkangiri district and interacted with its residents, an official statement said.

During his visit to Bandaghati village under Mudulipada gram panchayat of Khairaput block, the Governor urged the district administration to ensure enhanced support for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) such as the Bonda and Didayi communities, enabling them to better access government welfare schemes.

Kambhampati held discussions with beneficiaries of various initiatives, including rural housing, micro-entrepreneurship, and livelihood programmes. He also interacted with members of self-help groups (SHGs), encouraging them to strengthen local economic activities.

The Governor’s outreach to one of Odisha’s most isolated tribal groups is seen as part of efforts to bridge development gaps in remote areas while preserving indigenous culture. Officials accompanying him said the focus would remain on sustainable development, improved livelihood opportunities, and greater inclusion of tribal communities in mainstream welfare programmes.
