Odisha Government Launches Potato Sale at Rs 100 for 3 kg
The Odisha government has initiated a new scheme to sell potatoes at Rs 100 for 3 kg through retail shops under the Public Distribution System (PDS). This measure aims to provide relief to consumers amidst rising food prices.
On Sunday, Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister K C Patra announced that the potatoes are being distributed across the state via the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED). The initiative is intended to stabilize potato prices and ensure affordability for households.
Patra also noted that following this government move, traders have begun releasing potatoes into the market. He expressed optimism that this will lead to more reasonable pricing by traders, thereby benefiting consumers further.
The Odisha government’s step is seen as a proactive measure to address price fluctuations and ensure essential food items remain accessible to the public.
