Odisha Government Increases Procurement Price of Paddy to Rs 3,100 per Quintal for Kharif Season

In a significant move aimed at supporting farmers, the Odisha government has announced an enhanced procurement price of Rs 3,100 per quintal for paddy from the upcoming kharif season. This decision was confirmed by Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, underscoring the state’s commitment to bolster agricultural incomes.

Minister Patra emphasized that prompt payment to farmers is a priority, with instructions issued to ensure that payments are disbursed within 48 hours of paddy sale. This step is expected to alleviate financial concerns among farmers and streamline the procurement process.

The announcement follows the Union government’s recent increase in the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy to Rs 2,300 per quintal for the 2024-25 kharif marketing season, reflecting concerted efforts to enhance farmer welfare across the country.

The Odisha government’s proactive stance in enhancing procurement prices aims to empower farmers and ensure their economic security amidst evolving agricultural dynamics.
