Odisha Govt Announces 2% DA Hike for Employees and Pensioners

In a move aimed at benefiting lakhs of government employees and pensioners, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced a 2 percent hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees.

With this revision, the DA has increased from the existing 53 percent to 55 percent. The enhanced DA will be implemented retrospectively from January 1, 2025, and will be disbursed in cash along with the salary for the month of April.

Official sources confirmed that the hike will directly benefit nearly 8.5 lakh state government employees and pensioners.

In addition to the DA hike for serving employees, the Temporary Increase (T.I.) for pensioners has also been raised by 2 percent. Pensioners will receive the increased T.I. with their April pension.

The Chief Minister’s decision has been welcomed by government staff and pensioner associations across the state, who see it as a positive step towards addressing the impact of inflation and supporting household incomes.

This announcement follows a series of people-centric initiatives taken by the new state government under CM Majhi’s leadership.
