Odisha fast-tracks land acquisition for IOCL-projects

Odisha Govt Fast-Tracks Land Acquisition for Key IOCL Projects

Bhubaneswar, Jan 9: The Odisha government has moved to fast-track land acquisition and related clearances for two major Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) projects in Paradip and Bhadrak, aiming to ensure their timely implementation.

Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, while chairing a high-level review meeting on Thursday, directed concerned departments and district authorities to swiftly resolve pending land acquisition issues. Emphasising the need for timely execution, the Minister said the projects should become operational at the earliest.

Highlighting their strategic significance, Swain noted that the Dual Feed Naphtha Cracker Plant at Paradip and the yarn manufacturing project at Bhadrak are aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision for accelerating the development of eastern India. According to official sources, the naphtha cracker plant will be established at the IOCL Petrochemical Complex in Paradip, while the Bhadrak unit is expected to give a major boost to Odisha’s textile sector.

The Minister said the projects would inject fresh momentum into the state’s economy by attracting substantial investment and creating employment opportunities for thousands of youths.

Senior officials from IOCL, IDCO, IPICOL, GRIDCO, OPTCL, DIC, and the Departments of Industries, Revenue and Water Resources attended the meeting. The District Collectors of Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur joined the review through video conferencing.
