Odisha Farmers to Receive Rain Relief

Odisha Farmers to Receive Financial Assistance Following Unseasonal Rains, Says Minister
Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari announced that the state government will provide financial assistance to farmers and residents affected by unseasonal rains from May 27 to 30. The aid will cover crop and house damages in accordance with the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) guidelines.
Earlier this month, the Odisha government declared the recent unseasonal rainfall a state-specific disaster, enabling swift relief measures. According to Minister Pujari, up to 10 percent of the annual SDRF allocation can be used to support affected individuals.
“The affected people will receive assistance based on district collectors’ reports,” Pujari stated during a review meeting on monsoon preparedness held Friday evening in Bhubaneswar.
The government’s proactive approach aims to mitigate the impact of the unexpected weather on farmers’ livelihoods and help communities recover quickly as the monsoon season approaches.
