Odisha Farmers Begin Malaysia Study Tour

Odisha Farmers, Officials Embark on 7-Day Agricultural Study Tour to Malaysia
A 28-member delegation comprising 14 progressive farmers and 14 agriculture department officials from Odisha embarked on a seven-day agricultural study tour to Malaysia on Friday. The tour is part of the Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture (OIIPCRA).

The delegation was flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, who also holds the Agriculture portfolio. Addressing the team before departure, Singh Deo emphasized the importance of learning modern scientific methods and effective use of machinery in traditional farming practices.

He encouraged the team to document their experiences through daily reports and focus on adopting best practices that could help in doubling farmers’ income in the state. “Odisha ranks fourth in supplying rice to the Food Corporation of India (FCI), and initiatives like this will only strengthen our agricultural progress,” he said.

The study tour aims to expose farmers and officials to global best practices in agriculture, climate-resilient farming techniques, irrigation efficiency, and technology-driven cultivation methods.
