Odisha districts, blocks to go paperless

Official works in Odisha districts, blocks to go paperless soon: Majhi

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday said that official work at district and block-level offices across the state will soon go paperless, as the government is expanding the Odisha Secretariat Workflow Automation System (OSWAS) to streamline administrative processes.

Speaking at the state-level celebration of Good Governance Day, observed on the birth anniversary of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Majhi said the move will bring greater transparency, efficiency and accountability in governance while reducing delays in file movement and decision-making.

The Chief Minister said the expansion of the IT-based OSWAS platform will enable faster disposal of official work, improve coordination between departments and ensure better delivery of public services at the grassroots level. He added that the digital transition will also help cut down paperwork and operational costs.

Reiterating the state government’s commitment to good governance, Majhi said technology-driven reforms are key to making administration more citizen-centric. He also paid tributes to Vajpayee, recalling his emphasis on transparent and responsive governance.

The initiative is part of Odisha’s broader push towards digital governance, aimed at modernising administrative systems and improving efficiency across all levels of government.
