Odisha Court Orders Property Attachment of Real Estate Firm for Duping Investors

In a significant move to protect the interests of duped investors, the OPID special court in Balasore district has ordered the attachment of properties belonging to Shri Sai Infrastructure. The real estate firm is accused of deceiving investors by promising them flats and shops that were never delivered.

On Friday, Judge Biswajit Das of the Odisha Protection of Interests of Depositors (OPID) special court mandated the attachment of all properties of Shri Sai Infrastructure, excluding an ice plant. Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Panda confirmed this development, emphasizing the court’s commitment to safeguarding investor interests.

Shri Sai Infrastructure attracted numerous investors with the promise of lucrative real estate deals, including residential flats and commercial shops. However, the firm failed to deliver on these promises, leaving many investors in financial distress. The court’s decision to attach the firm’s properties is aimed at compensating the affected investors.

The OPID Act is a legislative measure in Odisha designed to protect depositors from fraudulent financial practices by various firms. The establishment of special courts under this act underscores the state’s commitment to addressing financial crimes and ensuring justice for victims.

This court order marks a critical step in holding fraudulent firms accountable and providing relief to investors who have been wronged. The attachment of Shri Sai Infrastructure’s properties will now pave the way for the recovery of funds and restitution to the defrauded investors.

The Special Public Prosecutor’s office is expected to oversee the execution of the court’s order and ensure that the attached properties are utilized for the benefit of the affected investors. Further legal proceedings will continue to address the grievances of the investors and bring the perpetrators to justice.
