Odisha Congress Slams Shah’s Remarks on Ambedkar with Statewide Marches

Congress Organizes Ambedkar Samman March in Odisha, Seeks Shah’s Resignation

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Congress on Tuesday staged the ‘Ambedkar Samman March’ in various parts of the state, protesting against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s alleged remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar during a recent Constitution debate in the Rajya Sabha.

Demonstrations were held in cities such as Bhubaneswar, Koraput, Dhenkanal, and Malkangiri, with Congress leaders and supporters carrying posters and images of Ambedkar. Protesters raised slogans condemning Shah and accused the BJP of disrespecting Ambedkar’s contributions to the nation.

“The Union Home Minister’s remarks during the debate were deeply offensive and an insult to Dr. Ambedkar, the architect of our Constitution,” said a Congress spokesperson.

The party has demanded Shah’s immediate resignation, asserting that his statements were not befitting of a leader holding such a significant office.

The BJP has yet to respond to the Congress’s allegations. Meanwhile, the protests have intensified the ongoing political debate on Ambedkar’s legacy and its relevance in current governance.
