Odisha CM to Launch Distribution of New Ration Cards on April 24
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to launch the distribution of new ration cards on April 24, 2025, to nearly 5.90 lakh beneficiaries. The distribution will take place on National Panchayati Raj Day, with the first ceremony in Puri. The move is aimed at expanding the reach of the food security scheme in the state.
According to Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, a total of 9 lakh people had applied for new ration cards, with 5.90 lakh qualifying under the scheme. The distribution will commence from Puri, and subsequently, the new ration cards will be given to eligible beneficiaries in other parts of Odisha.
This initiative is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that more families have access to subsidized food and essential resources. The launch on April 24 is expected to strengthen the food security infrastructure and support the welfare of underprivileged households in the state.
