Odisha Government to Promote Cattle Rearing, Dairy to Curb Labour Migration
The Odisha government is taking steps to reduce the migration of labourers from the state by promoting cattle rearing and the dairy sector. Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo highlighted that various state schemes for increasing milk production could help mitigate migration, especially from rural areas to other states and cities.
Singh Deo, who chairs a task force aimed at reducing distressed migration, emphasized the need for a district-wise analysis to understand the root causes and implement appropriate solutions. The move is part of broader efforts to improve livelihoods in rural areas and create sustainable employment opportunities, thus reducing the dependency on migration for work.
