Odisha CM orders tighter vigil on immigration

Odisha CM Urges Police to Intensify Vigil Against Illegal Immigration
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday directed the state police to strengthen surveillance and preventive measures against illegal immigration, particularly in coastal regions.
Speaking at the closing session of the two-day annual conference of district collectors and superintendents of police, Majhi stressed the need for coordinated action. He urged police officials to work closely with the Coast Guard and the Indian Navy to effectively curb illegal entry into the state.
The directive comes amid an ongoing crackdown in Odisha’s coastal districts, where law enforcement agencies have intensified operations targeting illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. The Chief Minister emphasised that enhanced vigilance and inter-agency cooperation are essential to safeguarding the state’s security and demographic balance.
