Odisha CM Orders Rationalisation of Medical Officer Appointments to Strengthen Healthcare
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed officials to rationalise the deployment of medical officers across Odisha, with a focus on ensuring adequate healthcare delivery in tribal and underserved regions.
Chairing a review meeting of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Majhi stressed the urgent need to fill vacancies in medical institutions, including posts of doctors, assistant professors, associate professors, and professors.
Officials informed that recruitment is underway for 1,840 doctors and medical officers, along with over 5,000 paramedical staff, to bolster the state’s healthcare workforce.
The Chief Minister also instructed the department to expedite steps to increase postgraduate seats in medical colleges, strengthen infrastructure, and appoint technical staff to enhance medical education and patient care.
The review also highlighted the need for setting up Integrated Trauma Care Centres in accident-prone areas, improving incentives for doctors in remote postings, and addressing challenges faced by Ayush practitioners.
Majhi emphasised that these measures are crucial for ensuring equitable and quality healthcare services across Odisha.
