Odisha CM Orders Probe into Mango Kernel Deaths; Congress Demands Compensation for Victims’ Families

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered a thorough investigation into the tragic deaths of two tribal women in Kandhamal district, reportedly caused by consuming mango kernel gruel. The incident, which occurred at Mandipanka village in the Daringbadi block, also left six others hospitalized.

The chief minister directed officials to conduct an in-depth inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of the deaths and take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The state government has expressed its concern over the health and safety of tribal communities, especially those facing food scarcity.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Congress has demanded immediate compensation for the victims’ families and criticized the government for failing to address food insecurity in tribal areas. The party called for urgent relief and long-term measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected communities.

As the investigation unfolds, officials are working to provide medical care to those hospitalized and assess the circumstances leading to this unfortunate incident.
