Odisha CM Hails PMEC Berhampur for Developing High-Performance Multiplier IC
Bhubaneswar, Sept 2 : Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday congratulated Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC), Berhampur for its remarkable contribution in developing the High Performance Multiplier IC – C2S0061, a key part of India’s first Made-in-India chip initiative.
Speaking at SEMICON India 2025 in New Delhi, the Chief Minister said the achievement marked a historic milestone in the country’s journey towards technological leadership. He also lauded the VG Amplifier and Sensor Circuit – C2S0018 and the Present Encryption Core – C2S0017, developed by NIT Rourkela, as proud contributions from Odisha to the semiconductor ecosystem.
“The launch of the first Made-in-India chip is not just a technological achievement but a decisive leap towards strategic and economic self-reliance. It reduces our dependence on imports, strengthens domestic manufacturing, and positions India as a rising global hub in electronics,” Majhi said.
He added that with bold policies, next-generation infrastructure, and investment-ready opportunities, Odisha is poised to emerge as a major hub for semiconductor and electronics innovation.
“These remarkable achievements showcase the talent and innovation nurtured within Odisha and underline our growing role in India’s semiconductor journey,” the Chief Minister stated, extending warm congratulations to everyone associated with the milestone.
Majhi described SEMICON India 2025 as a landmark platform that brought together global leaders, policymakers, researchers, startups, and industry pioneers to shape the future of semiconductors in India.
