Odisha Assembly Adjourned Three Days Early

Odisha Assembly Adjourned Sine Die Three Days Ahead of Schedule

The Budget session of the Odisha Assembly was adjourned sine die on Thursday, three days ahead of its scheduled conclusion. Speaker Surama Padhy announced the early adjournment, citing the completion of all significant legislative business.

The third session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly commenced on February 13 and was originally scheduled to run until April 5. However, with no crucial matters left for discussion, the Speaker decided to conclude the proceedings earlier than planned.

The proposal for adjournment was moved by government chief whip Saroj Kumar Pradhan and received strong support from members of the treasury bench. Following the approval, Speaker Surama Padhy officially declared the House adjourned sine die.

The Budget session saw deliberations on various financial matters and policy decisions, but with the early adjournment, all pending business will now have to be taken up in the next session.

The early conclusion of the Assembly session has drawn mixed reactions, with some welcoming the decision in light of the completion of business, while others believe the House could have utilized the remaining days for more discussions on pressing issues.

As Odisha heads towards upcoming elections, the political landscape in the state remains dynamic, with the ruling party and opposition gearing up for intense electoral battles in the coming months.
