Nitish Kumar Inspects Preparations for Khelo India Youth Games 2025 Ahead of May 4 Inauguration

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday visited the Patliputra Sports Complex to inspect the preparations for the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games 2025, which are set to kick off on May 4. The event, scheduled to run until May 15, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During his visit, Chief Minister Kumar was accompanied by senior officials, including Principal Secretary to the CM Dr. S. Sidharth, Secretary to the CM Kumar Ravi, and Ravindran Shankaran, Director General and CEO of the Bihar State Sports Authority. The inspection included a thorough review of the facilities being set up for the games, ensuring that everything is in place to successfully host the largest youth sports event in the country.

One of the highlights of the inspection was the unveiling of the largest Madhubani painting in the world, which will be displayed during the games. The painting has earned a Guinness World Record, and a certificate recognizing this achievement was handed over to Chief Minister Kumar during the visit. This piece of artwork will be an iconic symbol of Bihar’s rich cultural heritage and will serve as a major attraction for the event.

Kumar also closely observed the practice facilities available to the athletes, ensuring they meet the necessary standards for the 28 sports that will be contested during the games. The event will see participation from athletes across 28 states and 8 union territories, with over 8,500 players expected to compete.

The Khelo India Youth Games 2025 will take place across five cities—Patna, Gaya, Rajgir, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai—where a series of sporting events will take place over the course of the competition. This will be a significant moment for Bihar, showcasing the state’s potential to host large-scale national sporting events.

The Chief Minister’s inspection aimed to ensure that all aspects of the games, from infrastructure to athlete facilities, are on track, setting the stage for a grand and successful event. With less than a week until the event begins, the state is poised to showcase its commitment to promoting sports and youth development.
