Ninth BJD Term Beckons for Naveen

Naveen Patnaik Files Nomination for Ninth Consecutive Term as BJD President
Bhubaneswar, April 17 : Former Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik on Thursday filed his nomination for the post of BJD president for the ninth consecutive term, reaffirming his undisputed leadership within the party.
Patnaik, who has led the BJD since its inception, submitted his nomination papers before the party’s Returning Officer, Pratap Keshari Deb, in the presence of senior party leaders and supporters. According to party sources, he was the sole candidate to file nomination papers for the top post.
The official announcement of the BJD president is scheduled to be made on April 19, though Patnaik’s unopposed candidacy effectively confirms his continuation at the helm.
Under Patnaik’s leadership, the BJD has evolved into a dominant political force in Odisha, known for its strong regional identity and focus on the state’s development. Since its founding on December 26, 1997, following the death of legendary leader Biju Patnaik, the party has consistently championed the cause of Odisha’s progress and regional pride.
The BJD has already declared the names of its district presidents in 18 out of 30 districts, signaling its preparations for upcoming electoral challenges with renewed grassroots organization.
As Patnaik eyes his ninth term as party president, political observers see this as a reaffirmation of his unmatched influence and continued relevance in Odisha’s political landscape.
