New Delhi, September 3: Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh held bilateral talks with Belgium’s Minister of Defence and Foreign Trade Theo Francken in New Delhi on Thursday, with both sides agreeing to further strengthen defence and industrial cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral defence and industrial cooperation. They agreed to expand the partnership through regular defence cooperation dialogue, high-level visits, training and capacity-building initiatives.
The discussions also covered regional peace and security. Both sides acknowledged the growing importance of maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, underlining the need for greater collaboration in ensuring a secure and stable maritime environment.
Rajnath Singh and Theo Francken reiterated that the India-Belgium partnership is founded on shared values, mutual trust and respect. The discussions reflected the two countries’ commitment to deepening bilateral engagement in the defence sector.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever in New Delhi.
The latest engagement is expected to provide further momentum to India-Belgium relations, particularly in the areas of defence cooperation, industrial partnerships, training and regional security.
