Nepal Industry Minister Gauri Kumari Yadav Resigns Over LPG Remarks

Nepal's Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Gauri Kumari Yadav, resigned on Thursday following controversy over remarks she made about gas entrepreneurs amid an ongoing shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the country.

Yadav submitted her resignation to Prime Minister Balendra Shah, according to her secretariat.

The resignation came a day after Yadav faced criticism over comments made during a parliamentary committee meeting concerning LPG suppliers and industrialists. She reportedly said that the shortage would not ease unless action was taken against industrialists.

Her remarks triggered controversy at a time when consumers across Nepal are facing difficulties due to inadequate LPG supplies.

Yadav's decision to step down adds to mounting political pressure on the government to address the shortage and ensure regular supplies of cooking gas to households and businesses.

The government is expected to take further steps to stabilize LPG distribution and address concerns raised by both consumers and industry stakeholders.
