Nationwide Farmer Awareness Drive Begins May 29

Centre to Launch Nationwide Farmer Awareness Campaign from May 29: Shivraj Chouhan
In a major push to enhance agricultural productivity ahead of the upcoming kharif sowing season, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday announced a nationwide farmer awareness campaign titled Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan. The 15-day campaign will be held from May 29 to June 12, aiming to educate and empower 1 to 1.5 crore farmers across India.
The initiative is set to span over 700 districts, with the central government working in close coordination with state governments. The campaign will focus on promoting modern farming technologies and the adoption of new and improved seed varieties to boost yields and ensure sustainable farming practices.
To execute the ambitious outreach, the government will deploy around 2,000 teams comprising agricultural scientists, government officials, and progressive farmers. Each team will conduct three meetings daily at the district level, with a target of engaging 10-12 lakh farmers every day.
“This is one of the largest coordinated efforts to bring cutting-edge agricultural knowledge directly to farmers’ doorsteps,” said Chouhan. “By educating farmers on modern methods and quality inputs, we aim to significantly enhance productivity and resilience in Indian agriculture.”
The campaign also aligns with the government’s broader goals of doubling farmer incomes and promoting sustainable agricultural development in the face of climate change and growing food demands.
