Mohan Charan Majhi Sworn in as First BJP Chief Minister of Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: In a historic event, Mohan Charan Majhi, a four-time MLA and prominent tribal leader from Keonjhar district, was sworn in as the first BJP chief minister of Odisha on Wednesday. The ceremony, held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union ministers, and chief ministers from various states.

Governor Raghubar Das administered the oath of secrecy and office to the 52-year-old Majhi, who belongs to the Santhal community. Alongside Majhi, senior BJP leader and Patnagarh MLA KV Singh Deo and debutant MLA from Nimapara assembly segment Pravati Parida took oath as deputy chief ministers, marking a significant milestone in Odisha’s political landscape.

The event was attended by a large gathering of BJP supporters and dignitaries. Majhi, known for his dedicated service and leadership, is expected to bring a fresh perspective and dynamic changes to the state’s governance.

In his address, Majhi expressed his gratitude towards the people of Odisha and the BJP leadership for their support and trust. He emphasized his commitment to inclusive development, with a focus on the upliftment of tribal communities and the overall progress of the state.

Prime Minister Modi, while congratulating Majhi and his team, highlighted the importance of this new leadership in driving Odisha towards a prosperous future. He reiterated the central government’s support in all developmental endeavors undertaken by the state.
