Modi inaugurates 594-km Ganga Expressway in UP
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the 594-km access-controlled greenfield Ganga Expressway in Hardoi, calling it a transformative project that will boost connectivity and accelerate development across Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a gathering, the Prime Minister described the expressway as a “new lifeline” for the state, drawing a parallel with the significance of the Ganga River. He said the project would connect western, central and eastern parts of the state, directly benefiting crores of people across multiple districts.
Highlighting its strategic importance, Modi said the expressway would improve access to markets for farmers, enhance logistics, and open up new industrial and employment opportunities along its corridor. He added that improved connectivity would help boost incomes and strengthen small industries and MSMEs.
The Prime Minister also noted that the expressway would bring the opportunities of the National Capital Region closer to various parts of the state, facilitating economic growth and investment.
Emphasising rapid infrastructure development, Modi said the project—completed in less than five years—reflects the government’s pace and commitment to modernisation. He reiterated that such expressways are key to shaping India’s development trajectory and achieving the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.
The Ganga Expressway, among the country’s longest greenfield corridors, is expected to significantly enhance mobility, reduce travel time, and serve as a catalyst for Uttar Pradesh’s economic transformation.
