MoCA Launches Probe into Baramati Aircraft Crash, Black Box Recovered
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has initiated immediate response and investigative mechanisms following the unfortunate aircraft accident near Baramati, reaffirming its commitment to a thorough, transparent and time-bound inquiry.

According to an official statement, teams from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) were promptly deployed to the crash site on January 28. A three-member team from AAIB, Delhi, and another three-member team from the DGCA’s Mumbai Regional Office reached the location to begin on-ground investigations. Director General, AAIB, Shri G V G Yugandhar also arrived at the site the same day to oversee the process.

The investigation is progressing expeditiously, with authorities confirming that the black box of the ill-fated aircraft has been successfully recovered, a key step expected to aid in determining the cause of the accident.

The Ministry stated that the probe is being conducted strictly in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and laid-down guidelines. The investigation has been formally initiated under Rules 5 and 11 of the AAIB Rules, 2025.

MoCA reiterated that completing the investigation within a defined timeframe remains its top priority, while ensuring full transparency and adherence to safety protocols.
