Ministry of Education Ensures Menstrual Hygiene for Board Exams

The Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, has announced proactive measures to support the health, dignity, and academic success of female students during the 10th and 12th Board Examinations. Recognizing the challenges faced by girls due to limited access to menstrual hygiene products and facilities during exams, the DoSEL has issued an advisory for schools nationwide.

Menstrual hygiene management is crucial for girls’ well-being and academic performance. To ensure this, DoSEL has prioritized the following initiatives:

  1. Provision of Sanitary Products: Free sanitary pads will be available at all 10th and 12th Board examination centres, ensuring girls have access to essential hygiene products as needed.
  2. Restroom Breaks: Female students will be allowed necessary restroom breaks to manage menstrual needs, aiming to reduce discomfort and promote concentration during exams.
  3. Sensitization Programs: States/UTs/ABs will conduct educational programs to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene among students, teachers, and staff, fostering a supportive and understanding school environment.

By addressing menstrual hygiene concerns during exams, DoSEL aims to uphold the dignity of female students and empower them to confidently participate in exams and excel academically. These measures underscore the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring equitable access to education and supporting the overall well-being of all students.
