Tragedy struck in Odisha’s Kandhamal district as a woman lost her life and two family members sustained injuries in a lightning strike on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred in Tikabali town, approximately 37 km from Phulbani, when the victims, accompanied by a goat, were inside their home.

Rupali Bisoi (23) tragically passed away on the spot, confirmed Suprasanna Mallick, the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Phulbani. The injured individuals have been hospitalized in Tikabali, with reports indicating their condition to be stable.

Lightning strikes are not uncommon in the region during the pre-monsoon season, often resulting in casualties and injuries. Authorities continue to advise caution and safety measures during such weather conditions.
