KIMS Installs Eastern India’s First Cardiac Laser
KIMS Introduces Eastern India’s First Cardiac Laser Machine
Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) has taken a significant leap in cardiac care by installing Eastern India’s first Xenon Chloride Fusion Cardiac Laser Machine. The state-of-the-art technology is set to revolutionize the treatment of complex heart diseases by reducing the need for stents.
The cutting-edge machine was inaugurated by KIIT and KISS Founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta. It is designed to perform advanced procedures like coronary and peripheral atherectomy, lead management, and the removal of blockages deemed untreatable with conventional angioplasty.
Dr. Anupam Jena, Associate Professor in the Department of Cardiology, explained the groundbreaking potential of the device. “This laser allows us to provide ultra-modern treatments previously unavailable in this region. Patients with complex conditions, including arterial blockages and pacemaker lead issues, will benefit immensely,” he said.
The system offers unique advantages for younger patients in their 20s and 30s. By dissolving clogs and calcium deposits without stents, it minimizes risks often associated with traditional methods, Dr. Jena added.
Prof. Subasish Mishra, Head of the Department of Cardiology, emphasized the impact on patient care. “This technology enables us to manage complex coronary diseases more effectively. It dissolves blood clots and resistant blockages, improving outcomes while reducing the risks tied to stent usage,” he said.
The installation of the Xenon Chloride Fusion Cardiac Laser Machine underscores KIMS’s commitment to advancing healthcare and providing world-class treatment in the region.
