KIIT-DU Ensures Stability with Safety Measures

KIIT-DU Implements Measures to Restore Normalcy on Campus

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT-DU), one of Odisha’s leading educational institutions, has undertaken a series of measures to ensure normalcy on campus following recent developments.

In response to the situation, the university administration has established a 24/7 control room to provide support to its Nepali student community and has implemented safety measures to address concerns and maintain the continuity of academic activities. According to university sources, disciplinary action has been taken against certain staff members after an internal review of the recent death of a Nepali student and the subsequent unrest at the institution.

University officials emphasized that these measures align with KIIT-DU’s commitment to upholding institutional policies and safeguarding student well-being. They also confirmed that the majority of students have resumed their classes, and academic schedules remain unaffected, with regular coursework and campus activities continuing as planned.

Despite recent challenges, the university has successfully conducted multiple national and international events over the past ten days. The East Zone Inter-University Cricket Championship, which featured participation from 70 universities and 1,600 players and officials, was completed without disruptions. Additionally, KIIT hosted the 2nd International Workshop on Dam Safety and the International Conference on Recent Advances in Nanomedicine, each attracting over 500 researchers, academicians, and industry experts from across the globe.

Over the same period, the university welcomed more than 60 international academic leaders, including delegations from Harvard University and Japan, fostering interactions between students and faculty. Institutional engagements, including meetings with embassy representatives, academic discussions, and collaborations, proceeded as scheduled.

Furthermore, KIIT recently hosted the Central Zone Vice-Chancellors’ Meet, organized by the Association of Indian Universities, reinforcing its role in discussions on higher education policies and governance.

University officials have reiterated their commitment to student safety, institutional stability, and academic excellence. “We remain dedicated to providing a safe and uninterrupted learning environment for all students,” said a university spokesperson.

While concerns were initially raised regarding the impact of recent incidents, the administration has assured that classes, research, and institutional operations remain on track. Reports indicate a stable situation on campus, with students actively participating in their courses and academic activities continuing as usual.
