IPL Resumes May 17, Final June 3

IPL to Resume on May 17, Final Set for June 3: BCCI

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced that the Indian Premier League (IPL) will resume on May 17, with the final scheduled for June 3, following a temporary suspension due to recent border tensions.

The league was abruptly halted on May 8 after a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off mid-day. The disruption came after a reported airspace violation attempt by Pakistan near Chandigarh, which led to emergency blackout measures at the match venue.

In a swift decision, BCCI officials finalized a revised schedule to complete the season across six venues. The decision comes in the wake of a ceasefire agreement reached between India and Pakistan, easing immediate security concerns and allowing the tournament to continue.

“The safety of players and spectators remains our top priority. With the situation now stable, we are ready to bring back the excitement of the IPL,” a senior BCCI official said.

The revised fixtures are expected to be released shortly, with franchises and teams preparing to return to action after a brief and unexpected break.
