Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team to Compete in Four Nations Tournament in Argentina

The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team is set to travel to Argentina for a crucial Four Nations Tournament in preparation for the upcoming FIH Hockey Junior Women’s World Cup later this year. The tournament will take place in Rosario, Argentina, from May 25 to June 2, 2025.

During the tour, the Indian team will play six friendly matches against host nation Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile. The tournament will begin with India facing Chile and Uruguay on May 25 and 26, respectively, followed by a match against Argentina on May 28. The team will then play the return leg with matches against Chile on May 30, Uruguay on June 1, and Argentina again on June 2.

The Four Nations Tournament is a key part of the Indian team’s preparations for the FIH Hockey Junior Women’s World Cup, which will be held in Santiago, Chile, in December 2025.

Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team Coach Tushar Khandker emphasized the importance of the friendly matches, stating, “We are preparing for the Junior World Cup later this year. This tournament will help us assess our strengths, identify areas for improvement, and build confidence as we face strong international teams.”

Khandker also highlighted the team’s goal of executing their strategies effectively in each match, regardless of the opponent, to gain valuable match experience ahead of the World Cup.

The Indian team will depart for Rosario on May 21 to acclimatize and prepare for the tournament, which will offer them a valuable opportunity to test their skills and strategies in a competitive international setting.
