Indian Coast Guard Implements Measures Ahead of Cyclone Dana’s Landfall

In anticipation of Cyclone Dana’s expected landfall along the coasts of West Bengal and Odisha on October 24-25, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Region (North-East) has enacted a series of preventive measures to protect lives and property at sea.

The ICG has been closely monitoring the cyclone’s trajectory and has taken proactive steps to ensure readiness for any emergencies. Ships, aircraft, and Remote Operating Stations have been deployed in West Bengal and Odisha to broadcast continuous weather warnings and safety advisories aimed at fishermen and mariners. These alerts are urging all fishing vessels to return to shore immediately and seek safe shelter.

ICG vessels and aircraft have been strategically positioned to ensure a swift response to any emergencies that may arise as a result of the cyclone. The personnel are collaborating closely with local administrations and disaster management authorities to ensure an effective and coordinated response.

Additionally, fishing communities along the coastline have been informed through various channels, including village heads, to refrain from venturing into the sea until the cyclone has passed. The ICG remains on high alert, with dedicated disaster relief teams and resources prepared for assistance, rescue, and relief operations as needed.

As Cyclone Dana approaches, the ICG’s comprehensive preparedness measures aim to mitigate risks and enhance the safety of coastal communities and mariners in the affected regions.
