Indian Boys and Girls Retain South Asian Team Titles in Table Tennis
India’s under-19 girls’ team clinched the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships title by defeating hosts Sri Lanka 3-0 in a dominant final held in Kandy. Prior to the final, India secured a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Nepal in the semifinals.
In the final match, Sayali Wani led the charge with a straight sets victory (11-6, 12-10, 11-8) over Bimandee Bandara. Pritha Vartikar followed suit with a hard-fought win (7-11, 11-3, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8) against Tamadi Kavindya. Taneesha Kotecha then sealed the title with a convincing performance (11-8, 11-7, 11-7) over Divya Dharani.
The Indian contingent showcased exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the championship, reaffirming their dominance in the region. The victory marks a significant achievement for the young athletes and underscores India’s prowess in youth table tennis on the international stage.
