India to Host FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 with Record 24 Teams

In a historic decision, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has awarded India the honor of hosting the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025. Scheduled for December 2025, this prestigious tournament marks the first time in history that the Junior World Cup will feature an expanded lineup of 24 teams.FIH President Tayyab Ikram emphasized the importance of inclusivity and diversity in sports, stating, “Giving more opportunities to a larger and more diverse number of National Associations is one of the key pillars of our Empowerment and Engagement strategy.” He expressed excitement about the increased participation and the future of hockey represented by these young teams.

Dr. Dilip Tirkey, President of Hockey India, expressed gratitude to FIH for choosing India to host this landmark event. “This prestigious tournament highlights India’s growing importance in international hockey,” he remarked, emphasizing India’s commitment to fostering the sport’s development globally.

Shri Bhola Nath Singh, Secretary General of Hockey India, highlighted the significance of hosting the Junior World Cup, stating, “This event offers a fantastic chance to bring hockey to even greater heights, inspiring a whole new generation of players and fans in India and globally.”

The FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 follows the 2023 edition held in Malaysia, where Germany emerged victorious. With India set to host and the tournament expanding to accommodate 24 teams, anticipation is high for an event that promises to showcase the future stars of international hockey.
