India Hosts Global Young Scientists Conference and AGM at IIT Hyderabad
Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, today chaired the prestigious Global Young Scientists Conference and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Global Young Academy (GYA) at IIT Hyderabad. The event brought together emerging scientific leaders from 60 countries, marking a significant milestone as the first such international conference hosted in India.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Pradhan emphasized India’s commitment to science rooted in empathy, ethics, and equity. He highlighted India’s global initiatives like the International Solar Alliance and Mission LiFE, which embody the nation’s vision of global friendship and sustainable development. The Minister also congratulated the 30 new members inducted into GYA, underscoring the importance of young scientists in shaping the future.
In his speech, Shri Pradhan called for increased collaboration and co-creation among scientists, urging them to work with purpose and empathy to realize the vision of Viksit Bharat—a developed India—and promote human-centric development. He also promoted environmental sustainability, planting saplings at IIT Hyderabad as part of the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, encouraging attendees to nurture nature for a sustainable future.
The conference, titled Confluence of Visionaries: Empowering Science for Global Change, features sessions on ESG, health and nutrition, Industry 5.0, and innovation. It aims to foster dialogue and partnerships among young scientists to develop solutions for global challenges, reinforcing India’s role as a hub for innovative scientific collaboration.
This week-long event is organized by IIT Hyderabad in collaboration with GYA, INYAS, and INSA, and features 135 international delegates and 65 national participants. It signifies India’s increasing prominence in global science and its commitment to empowering the next generation of scientific leaders for a better, sustainable future.
