IIT Bhubaneswar, Survey of India Collaborate to Boost Geospatial Research
Bhubaneswar: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has joined hands with the Odisha & Chhattisgarh Geo-Spatial Directorate of the Survey of India (SoI) to strengthen research and innovation in geospatial technologies.
The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on Tuesday by Prof. Dinakar Pasla, Dean (Sponsored Research & Industrial Consultancy) of IIT Bhubaneswar, and Asish Kausal, Director of Odisha and Chhattisgarh Geo-Spatial Directorate, Survey of India.
The partnership aims to leverage the Survey of India’s expertise in geospatial science alongside IIT Bhubaneswar’s strengths in remote sensing, geo-dynamical studies, climate science, and earth sciences. Both institutions plan to engage in joint research projects, knowledge exchange, and collaborative initiatives such as workshops, lectures, and conferences to promote scientific understanding and capacity-building in emerging geospatial technologies.
This alliance is expected to drive innovation in mapping technologies, geo-informatics, and geodesy, further positioning Odisha and IIT Bhubaneswar as leaders in the geospatial research domain.
