Hundreds Gather to Offer Prayers at Gandhi Temple in Odisha on His 155th Birth Anniversary
On the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, hundreds of devotees gathered at the unique Gandhi Temple in Bhatra, Sambalpur district, to offer prayers and pay tribute to the Father of the Nation. This temple, one of the oldest dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, witnessed an overwhelming turnout of people commemorating his legacy of peace and non-violence.
The temple houses a bronze idol of Gandhi, which is worshipped twice a day. Devotional activities on this special occasion included the recitation of the Gita and the chanting of Ram Dhun, led by the temple’s chief priest and president of the temple committee, Radhakanta Bag.
Speaking on the significance of the temple, Bag mentioned, “This temple stands as a symbol of Gandhi’s ideals, and every day we strive to preserve his teachings of truth and non-violence.”
The temple continues to attract visitors not only from Sambalpur but also from across the state, serving as a spiritual and cultural hub.
