Heavy Rain Alert for Odisha’s Koraput, Malkangiri Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in Odisha’s Koraput and Malkangiri districts over the next two days due to a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal.

An Orange warning has been issued for these two southern districts, advising residents to remain prepared for heavy rain, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph till 8:30 am on Thursday.

The IMD has also placed 28 other districts under a Yellow warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms over the next 48 hours. The system is likely to bring widespread rainfall, raising concerns over possible waterlogging, minor flooding, and disruption of normal life in low-lying areas.

Authorities have urged people in the affected regions to take necessary precautions and avoid venturing into vulnerable areas during the period of adverse weather.
